MARCH

A week into March, while changing my son’s nappy, I managed to kick the bathroom door so hard I broke my toe and passed out in the process. I came to, to my youngest son (aged 2) laughing in my face and my eldest son (aged 3 and a half) asking ‘what are you doing mummy’. Luckily, they thought I was playing so I don't think this has had a lasting pschological effect on either of them...  and I don’t think I was ‘out’ for that long. But this obviously posed PROBLEM NUMBER 2.

Having labelled this as ‘a problem’ is a slight exaggeration,  as cycling is probably one of the better forms of exercise for a broken toe. So I thought, as long as I can get my cycling shoes on, then I can probably carry on regardless.

I could, so we did.

Mid-March saw us pick up my husband’s bike one Saturday morning at 08.30am and my husband and I spent Saturday and Sunday morning cycling around the beautiful Cotswold countryside. (25 miles on the Saturday and 30 miles on the Sunday)

It was amazing and I think it gave us a little more confidence in our bikes, our technique and the challenge that faced us.
